The ANSAR SHRINERS CIRCUS
CIRCUS BICYCLE PROGRAM
A new initiative was introduced during the 2003 Circus, the
Children’s Bicycle Program. In 2004, a total of 36 bicycles were
given away to children during the Circus. The purpose of the
program was to increase the sale of Circus Programs/Coloring
Books. However, if you saw the winners smiling faces when they
received their bike that was reason enough to continue this
program at future circuses. To date, a total of 61 bikes have been
given to children.

Mac McGlothlin will serve as chairmen for this event in 2005. The
program is funded entirely by donations. The ATV 4 Wheelers
have done a super job administering the program in the past.
They assembled, transported and provided security for the bikes
during the circus. President Karl Cunningham and his group have
volunteered to do it again.

The Circus Bicycle Program is an outstanding public relations
event. The committee has promised that this year the Circus
Bicycle Give-Away will be bigger and better. This will hopefully
not only sell more Programs but also increase our circus
attendance.

Donations from Uniformed Units, Shrine Clubs, individuals and
businesses are welcome. The normal cost of a bike is about
$75.00. In order to keep the bicycles uniform in the type, color
and make, this year we are requesting that only money be
donated and no actual bikes. This will allow the committee to
negotiate a bigger and better deal on the purchase price of the
bikes. Donors will be acknowledged during the circus and in the
next issue of The ANSARS. This is a program for the children of
Central Illinois. Our goal this year is to have between 100 bicycles
to give to children this year. Your support is deeply appreciated.
